a rewritten version of my first poem about two souls separated at birth, yearning for each other, and the surviving with the impossible hope of finding each other
I liked your poem because I also feel that our desire for connection - for a divine, soulful, profound soulmate connection - isn't necessarily something idealised or something negative. It's something that is possible, and something we build over time. It's possible in the way that it becomes a mirror of our own soul, our own struggles, and who we are becoming.
it truly isn’t just another fallacy to hope for a soulmate. it never is and never was negative. a “soulmate” is someone poems use to describe a perfection version of a lover - it’s not necessary that they are born perfect or they are born your soulmate - it’s about being able to foster a connection with a soul to the point they naturally become your absolute. if someone is capable of being your soulmate - then they already are.
good god Eden 😅this is so damn good. when you said you had something about yearning i was unprepared for just how beautiful it would be. this reads like a love letter sent on the wind and carried into the stars. absolutely amazing 🤍
yeah - yearning is such a deep topic. i’ve always yearned for a soulmate - i used to write about love all the time and honestly it crushed me. thank you for your comment taylor - your support means the world to me.

This was so beautiful. All of it. But I couldn't stop rereading this "every night
I’d count the stars
and split my lunch between us
the way we should have done
if love found us
before your beauty
petrified a graveyard"
AWE THANK YOU!! IM SO GLAD YOU LIKED THOSE LINES. THEY’RE MY FAVOURITES.
WOO! An extra win for me then :)
