In Utero
i'm not going to hurt you.
In Utero
I was born with cracked lips
and an innocent tongue
somewhere In Utero
but somewhere
In Utero
I bled
before my first breath
was held as a crime against me
miles of parchment skin
gushed with ink
as I became holy in my imperfections
In Utero
we learn every child is born an innocent
until I was born with snakes and serpents
deep within flesh and bone
swallow me on my childish tongue
embrace me as I’m swallowed whole
rock me in your elbows gently
I am a child, sweet innocent-
I have not been proven guilty
mother hold me in your arms
kiss me as you cry softly
I am still your child
I am yet to be born guilty
sister soften your anger into satin
I am not the one you should hate
sister offer your soft, sisterly protection
I beg, even if I’m born a man
family please adorn me
your verdict reached me
but father lower your hand
I hope you understand
I am still
In Utero
I cannot speak & I am harmless
IN UTERO - IN UTERO - IN UTERO - IN UTERO - IN UTERO - IN UTERO
I WAS NOT GUILTY

The silence in the bathroom measured itself in forgotten words

Wow, this piece truly clarified a perspective I've yet to consider. Society imposes different versions victimhood, but the harm is indiscriminate. Thank you.
You break my heart in every single piece you write. 10/10
