compulsion - revision - digital dependencies - post human identity erosion
every mirror
carries a different version of you
SEIZE
my metal flavors the edges of your spit
you bite hard
and I bloom in the cracks of your teeth
I’ll linger on your breath like spirit
your drown in liquor pools
your psychosis bleeds through you
the glow whitens your face
the reflection buffers within you
your mind will break under the weight
sweat clings to the back of your legs
sleep eludes and your mind is a prison
cells reinforced with computer circuits
your memory degrades quietly in the mess
rewrite your laughter, adjust your pauses
replace yourself until you don’t exist
you wake with phrases
embedded into your mouth
your thoughts arriving
in prewritten sentences
every mirror
carries a different version of you
your body learns the machine quickly
thumb refreshing your consciousness endlessly
your pulse bleeds blue light
your brain adjusts to the digital hours
your mind forgets habits
that once belonged to you
you replace yourself
piece by piece
gesture by gesture
bottles line the mattress - sweat lines the desk
late night static trapped in the mess
your breath rehearsed a thousand times
until your body is at war with peace
continuity breaks
something wears your shadow
machinery inhabits your outline
continues living for you
in place of you

fantastically written
this is insanely good. love the dissection of technology dependence and a glimpse at the realities of a post-human world. i literally re-read it 3 times in a row.
